[EN] Stories and lessons from one year Occupy Wall Street

A little more than one year ago, on September 17th 2011, thousands of people flooded the streets of New York City and occupied Zucotti Park near America’s financial High Temple Wall Street. There, a moment turned into a movement. Right now, a small, but passionate group of Occupiers is still effectively organizing against student debt and home foreclosures, but the flush of excitement of the beginning has died down. The loss of their occupation of Zucotti Park meant the loss of an important momentum: direct community building. Many people consider the movement a thrilling succes, a new opportunity, while others label the movement as pointless, unrealistic and unhygeniec. Occupy Wall Street continues struggling to be taken serious politically and at the same time staying true to themselves.

Anthropologies Ying Que (just back from her OWS research) will discuss the following questions: What can we in Holland learn from what happened and is still happening there? In what ways can we consider Occupy Wall Street a succes and in what ways still a process and why?

DO YOU HAVE RED HAIR?

Natural or not, Ireland’s FOXY FEST is the place for you!

The beautiful seaside village of Crosshaven in County Cork will transform into a sea of red on Saturday August 24th, 2013! There will be lots of opportunities for you to discover your natural hair-itage at Ireland’s only and original ‘Foxy Fest’! There are lots of activities including freckle counting competitions

, a redhead parade, ginger chef cook-off, redhead photo shoots, certificates for all genuine gingers, fire eating and discounts throughout Crosshaven village for natural redheads.

Redheads are in the minority and make up only 2% of the world’s population, so if you are not already blessed with naturally fiery locks, we still invite to you attend with red hair dying facilities and competitions for the ‘Best Wannabe Redhead’

Of course … there has to be a joke at this point …

Question – what’s the difference between a red-headed woman and a terrorist?
Answer – you can negotiate with a terrorist!

All this madness is in aid of The Irish Cancer Society so help us to help them and to spread ginger pride throughout the universe!
