$HAME £EIN TO ATTEND PRISONER DEBATE IN WESTMINSTER

ULSTER Unionist Fermanagh & South Tyrone MLA Tom Elliott has hit out at Sinn Fein regarding plans to attend a debate in Westminster about a number of Irish prisoners, including Dungannon man Gerry McGeough.

British Injustice

The MLA called on the party to show its support for law enforcement in the North of Ireland and accused them of  ” duplicity “. Mr Elliott said : ” I am aware that a number of Sinn Fein members are participating in a Westminster event to ” discuss the justice issues relating to the imprisonment of the Irish prisoners Gerry McGeough, Marian Price and Martin Corey. This event being organised by Labour MP John McDonnell, with Fianna Fail TD Eamon O’ Cuiv and Sinn Fein MP Conor Murphy both as guest speakers. ” It is of course ironic that Mr Murphy is speaking at this event in Westminster, I suggest it would be better for his constituents if he were to take his seat in the House of Commons and provide proper representation.” He continued : ” Many will now be starting to realise the duplicity of Sinn Fein by their pretence of partnership work with the DUP in the Northern Irish government but in their real world continue to support terrorists. ” It is also disappointing that the Labour MP Mr McDonnell has put himself in this position, which will give many in the community a veiw that he is also supporting terrorists. ” The range of speakers at the event will clearly not reflect a broad range of views but rather a narrow focus and I assume some of the speakers may offer clear support for terrorists,” Mr Elliott said.
