Óglaigh na hÉireann (ÓnahÉ) Founded: 2006:

ÓnahÉ is the name given to two distinct splinter groups operating in the North of Ireland. The first which is based around Belfast and Derry is a splinter group of the CIRA.

The second which is based around the north Louth and south Armagh border is a splinter group of the RIRA. In 2009 the south Armagh ÓnahÉ claimed that it was responsible for the attack on Masserene barracks which killed two British soldiers, and not the RIRA. The organisation was also responsible for a carbomb in Castlewellan which took a number of days to defuse. It is believed that many of the members are made up of ex-RIRA members who were expelled in the early 2000’s after supporting the call by Michael McKevitt, the then imprisoned leader, for a ceasefire. The ceasefire was rejected by the RIRA and those who supported it were removed from the organisation.
